 | SCHOOL OF IS&T HOSTS SACLA CONFERENCE 2011 UKZN's School of Information Systems and Technology hosted the annual Southern African Computer Lecturers Association (SACLA) conference between 6-8 July 2011 at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort, close to Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. The Conference's theme was "Innovate - Educate". A wide range of papers, discussing various aspects of computing education, were presented at the conference. 27 of the 29 papers presented underwent a double blind peer review. The keynote address, entitled "King 3 and IT Governance", was presented by Binesh Rajkaran of PWC. In this talk he highlighted the need for good IT governance in organisations. A multi-institution panel discussion was also held at the conference, discussing the "Graduateness of computing students in South Africa". 48 Computer Science, IT and Information Systems academics, representing 14 Southern African higher education institutions, attended the event. The 2012 conference will be hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Informatics at the University of the Free State. | |
